General Travel Information

Accommodation

Due to frequent industrial fairs and events in Frankfurt, it is not possible for the organizers to book hotel rooms without advance payment and considerable logistical constraints. For that reason, we have decided not to reserve any hotel rooms for the conference participants. However, during the conference period (26-29 May), hotel rates are fairly reasonable (40-140€ per day). We therefore recommend the participants to book rooms independently, using the internet search service(s) of their choice. Our recommendations are below:

Getting to Frankfurt from the Airport/s

Frankfurt Hahn Airport and Frankfurt International Airport are two different airports. If you have the option to fly into either airport, please fly into Frankfurt International Airport, as it is much closer to the University (see Google Maps).

After flying into Frankfurt International Airport, you can travel into the city via taxi (rather pricy) or via local train (“S-Bahn”). Taxis are available around the clock at both terminals. If you prefer to take the S-Bahn, take the line S8 or S9 that depart from the airport regional train station (“Regionalbahnhof”) in Terminal 1, Concourse B, Level 0. Ticket machines are available next to the tracks. The S8 and S9, departing from platform 1, will take you directly to Frankfurt’s main train station (“Hauptbahnhof”).

If you are flying into Frankfurt Hahn, you can take a bus to Hauptbahnhof. The bus runs every hour in each direction.

Getting to the University/ Conference Venue

From Hauptbahnhof (Google Maps; a different route is shown here from the one described below): Walk towards the main exit of the station, and before you exit, you will see escalators going down, take them, and make your way towards U4 to “Bockenheimer Warte” (you will see it on the screens), after two stops, get off and take the steep escalators going up (in the direction of the train travel, not the opposite side), then immediately turn left, and go up the escalators past the bakery (important sign). Once up, you are at a bus stop where you will find two buses frequenting to the university campus (Numbers 75 & 36). You can get off at “Bremer Straße” or “Campus West End” to reach the conference venue.

From other parts of the city, depending on where you arrive, the campus can be reached via underground lines U1, U2, U3 and U8 (stop “Holzhausenstraße”) .

The conference will take place at Goethe University’s Campus Westend, Casino Buildinglocated at Norbert-Wollheim Platz 1, 60329 Frankfurt.
